CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Due to the winter weather conditions, Southern Illinois University Carbondale will be closed on Tuesday, January 16.
This is an administration closure which means all face-to-face, hybrid and online classes will be cancelled. They also inform the public the classes will not be delivered remotely as well.
The residence halls, residential dining and the Rec Center will all be open however.Â
The Department of Public Safety on campus will also be open.
All other campus buildings and offices will be closed on Tuesday.
Essential personnel should report to work, but no other employee should report to work during the closure, according to the Emergency Operations Center at SIUC. Employees who have questions should consult their supervisors.
The university is expected to reopen at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, at this time. The university will provide updates on campus operations as necessary as they continue to monitor the weather forecast and road conditions.
-Residential dining centers will be open 11 a.m. � 8 p.m.
-The Rec Center will be open from 1 p.m. � 9 p.m.
Grounds workers will be clearing sidewalks, steps and parking lots as weather conditions permit. Avoid unnecessary travel and please use extreme caution as you move about campus.
