CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The suspect in a deadly hit-and-run crash has been arrested in Carbondale.
The Carbondale Police Department stated Jeremy Shered, 36 of Carbondale, was arrested without incident on June 5 in Carbondale. He was then taken to the Jackson County Jail.
Earlier on the afternoon of June 3, the Jackson County State's Attorney's Office helped with an arrest warrant for Shered, which reportedly charged him for Failing to Report an Accident Involving Death, Arson, Reckless Homicide Involving a Motor Vehicle, Driving While License Suspended, Obstructing Justice, Failure to Render Aid, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
In an earlier report, police found the suspected car involved in the May 31st deadly pedestrian crash. They found the vehicle on fire on Saturday afternoon, the day after the crash occurred.

Carbondale police say the car was parked in the 1300 block of East Pleasant Hill Road at around 4:45 p.m. on June 1. The Carbondale Township Fire Department responded to put out the flames. Authorities suspect the fire was caused via arson. Carbondale Fire Department's arson investigators also responded to the scene to investigate.Â
Following the fire, investigators believe and accused Shered of the one being responsible for the pedestrian's death. Shered allegedly drove the car when it hit the victim.
Shered was sought for several days after the incident.
Carbondale police also revealed the identity of the victim Michael D. Welling, 68 of Carbondale, who died in the crash.
