THOMPSONVILLE, Ill. -- Two people are injured after a fire erupted in a home Monday morning.
Firefighters rushed to the scene of a house on fire near Thompsonville around 1:20 a.m.
West Frankfort Fire Chief Derek Sailliez said when the first fire crew arrived, the two-story home was fully involved.
Firefighters started spraying down the exterior part of the home with water and continued to fight the flames.
Two people were inside when the blaze started. Sailliez said they woke up to the fire which was in their room at the time.
Those two individuals were injured from the fire, treated on scene and then taken to appropriate levels of care for their injures.
Saillez said there was not any working smoke detectors in the home.
Fire crews were on scene for several hours working the house fire.
The fire is under investigation.
