CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- The WSIL sports team was at Carterville High School for the second time this season. This time, it was to honor Lions Junior, Nick Bisching.

Bisching was all over the field in Carterville’s 49-0 win over Herrin on Friday, helping the Lions move to an impressive 4-0.

The wide receiver had seven receptions for 176 yards and found the endzone five times in the Lions' dominant win.

His impressive five-touchdown performance earns him our week four WSIL Athlete of the Week award.

The WSIL sports team was at Carterville High School for the second time this season. This time, it was to honor Lions Junior, Nick Bisching.

"It feels great, you know, I get a bunch of attention from it from my friends, which is always good, but it feels great at school, and everything. Parents love it, family, they always give me the congrats, it feels great. Coach Diel had a great play call going on, you know we played great all night, offense was rolling, everyone was rolling, Skelcher was throwing good, so overall it was just the team that helped me to it," said Junior wide receiver, Nick Bisching.

Bisching thanked head coach, Brett Diel for the play calls, but the Lions head coach had nothing but great things to say about his wide receiver’s play against the Tigers.

"He’s a guy that’s hard to cover in space, he’s a Wes Welker type, you know, a little guy that we put in the slot, big receivers on the edge, and we’ve got the quick guy in the middle and he had a game," said Coach Diel.

Although he might not be the loudest guy on the field, Coach Diel has one word to describe him when those Friday night lights turn on.

"Nick’s got swagger, I mean he might be quiet, but he’s got some confidence, and you have to have that to play the positions that he plays," said Diel. "He’s a secondary guy, he’s a slot receiver, You have to have confidence in your ability to go across the middle and the kid, he’s as tough as they come, you know, pound-for-pound on our squad, I’d put him up against anybody, he’ll take hits and he just pops right up and keeps going, so tough kid, he’s always where he needs to be, and he’s a playmaker."

Carterville will look to stay perfect on Friday when they welcome another 4-0 team to Lions field. CHS will host St. Joseph-Ogden for a massive non-conference match-up at 7 p.m.
