(WSIL) -- A former assistant SIU Men's basketball coach has died.
Anthony Stewart was found dead on Sunday, November 15th. Stewart served as an assistant coach under Chris Lowery from 2011-2012. He was about to start his fifth season as head coach of the University at Tennessee at Martin Skyhawks.
Skyhawks athletic director Kurt McGuffin made a statement saying quote, "Coach Stewart was a true leader to every one of the young men he coached. He emphasized the meaning of a college degree and instilled professionalism in each of his student-athletes.".
Stewart was 50 years old.
