CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - The stars of the Saluki softball program are going home.

The twins from SIU Softball have transferred to their hometown college.

The pitcher-and-catcher tandem of Maddia and Rylinn Groff are heading to the University of Nebraska Omaha. It's a homecoming of sorts.

The sisters had a major impact for the Dawgs in just a short time. With the help of both sisters, SIU won the regular season and conference championship for the first time since 1991.

Maddia was remarkable in the circle. She earned 30 of the Dawgs' 44 wins. That's nearly 70 % of the team's victories.

The move brings them home and allows them to try for NIL deals.

SIU's loss is Nebraska's gain.
