ANNA-JONESBORO (WSIL) -- In just over a week, we will have high school football games, so we continue to make our rounds to preview teams from our area.

On Wednesday, WSIL Sports stopped by practice to check out the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats.

A-J is a triple option team, and will return two quarterbacks with game experience. Both fullbacks return as well. Up front they return 4 starters on the offensive line.

As we transition seasons, right now for the wildcats the focus is on them, and not the opponent just yet.

"Very few seniors last year so we have a lot of guys with valuable experience so we feel we are building from our previous team and because of the at experience I think that helps them be a little further along than we might if we were, like the year before we graduated everybody and we struggled early and learning some things," Anna-Jonesboro Head Football Coach Brett Detering said.

"Sometimes it's a little hard to get yourself back into it while also trying to keep everyone else up to speed but that's kind of what you've got to do as a senior, as a leader," Anna-Jonesboro senior tight end and fullback Nate Belcher said.

"I try to work my hardest, I try to help everyone else get their best."

"We got a little work in, in the summer but we've ran this since our freshman year and it's become second memory to us, just second nature, it's engraved in us now, it's just A-J football," Anna-Jonesboro senior quarterback Carson Pengress said.
