CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- Benton baseball continues to play well here of late. The Rangers handed Harrisburg their first loss on Wednesday and followed it up Friday with a 9-1 win over Massac County.
Carterville holds off Sparta 1-0. Lions pitcher Drew Petska was able to keep Sparta off the scoreboard, struck out the side in the first inning.
In the second inning, Jarrett Glenn hit a triple Caden Hawkins drove him in to make it 1-0 and that is the only run the Lions would need.
