In the opener, Massac County jumped out to a 6-0 on top-seed Marion, only to watch the Wildcats score one in the fifth, two in the sixth, and three in the seventh to force extra innings.
In the ninth, Cali McCraw clubbed an RBI double to put the Lady Patriots up 7-6.Ìý That turned out to be the difference as Massac County earned a spot in the regional championship.
In the nightcap, Kate Crombar crunched a two-run homer in a five-run third inning to help propel Carbondale to a 9-4 win over rival Murphysboro.
The Terriers jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but the Red Devils tallied two in the fourth to cut it to 5-2.
Carbondale tacked on two in the sixth and two in the seventh and then held on for the win.
So it will be Massac County and Carbondale for a regional championship at 4:30 in Carbondale.
