The Lady Indians beat the Lady Midgets 2-0

JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. -- The Johnston City Lady Indians defeated Freeburg in the 2A Super Sectional Monday afternoon.

The Lady Indians won 2-0, ending Freeburg's 33-game winning streak.

This comes after beating Carterville in the 2A Pinckneyville Sectional last week.

Indians coaches and players believe it was their effort that pushed them over the edge this postseason.

"We knew we were going to have to come in and play hard, because we knew that they played good teams throughout the season, and they deserved the record that they have and so knowing that we competed with them, and we won, it's just great," said JCHS pitcher, Gabby Overturf.

Head Coach, Scott Hutchinson added, "Sometimes they say that you're on borrowed time, but I don't think that we are. Our kids are working hard, and they want to win it all. I tell them to stay in it and give yourself an opportunity and that's what they've been doing here in the postseason they've been staying in everything you know and working their tails off."

They will face the #1 Beecher Bobcats in Peoria at The Louisville Slugger Complex at 3 p.m. on Friday in the 2A State Semifinal.
