MARION, IL (WSIL) -Â It's only fitting the Thrillbillies would welcome the rival Billys in their home opener.
Thrillbilles earn 4-2 home opener win over Jackson Rockabillys, local fans excited for season
Thrillville hosted Jackson on Thursday night as summer baseball made its return to Southern Illinois, the Marion group coming off a 12-run win on Wednesday night.
Hard to ask for a better night for some baseball, the sun was on its way down as the team took the field for the first time this season in front of the hometown fans.
How about this for a start? Pitcher Karsten Stotlar took his first strikeout of the night. He sat down Merik Carter of the Rockabillys in the first.
The Thrillbillies went on to win 4-2.
Some fans are happy to have baseball back in the region.
"I liked watching the games cause some people from here in Marion play on the team and all that," said Thrillbilles Fan Clay Dunn.
