...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT /1 PM EDT/ TODAY TO
7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ today to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

More rain before a short break

(WSIL) -- With an active pattern, a chance for rain and thunderstorms overnight will precede only a two day break in rainfall.

Sunday brings more seasonal temperatures and gray skies. Expect highs in the low to mid 50s. Most will be dry, but showers are possible today, with the best chances beginning after sunset.

A large low pressure system will bring storms through Missouri and Arkansas before weakening as it pushes into our region. Heavy rain and rumbles of thunder are possible overnight tonight and early Monday.

Monday afternoon kicks off a short dry spell, with more rain chances through midweek. I'm tracking these rain chances and more, this morning on News 3.
