(WSIL) -- A Red Flag warning is in effect for much of our area today.
Much of the viewing area will see winds sustained between 15 to 20 mph, with gusts potentially in excess of 30 mph on Saturday. These winds will be blowing very dry air across already dry vegetation, which will enhance today's fire risk. These conditions make burning very dangerous, as they will lend to extreme fire behavior.
After today, rain chances will linger in the forecast for much of the first half of the work week. This will hopefully mitigate, to some degree, our fire risk.
I'll be tracking our next chance for rain this morning, on News 3.
