* WHAT...Heat index values between 100 to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ Saturday to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will cause heat impacts to be greater than
normal.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Illinois sees three days in a row with over 6,900 new COVID-19 cases

(WSIL) -- Illinois health officials reported 6,980 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. This marks the state's third day in a row over 6,900 new cases.

With Sunday's report, the state's case total is now at 417,280.

The state also reported 35 new deaths, bringing the total to 9,792.

Currently, there are 3,294 individuals hospitalized. Of those people in the hospital, 692 are in intensive care with, 284 on ventilators.

In the last 24 hours, 78,458 tests were conducted. The rolling seven-day positivity rate is now at 8%.
