COLP, Ill. -- Fleeing bicyclist taken to jail for resisting arrest and drug charges in Williamson County.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) said on October 19, at just after midnight, deputies were patrolling the area of Andrew Springs Road and Garfield Street when they saw a man riding a bicycle without required lighting.
As deputies in their patrol car approached the man, he then started pedaling faster and went into a nearby alley between Johnson Street and Lincoln Street.
The deputies then turned on their emergency lights on their patrol car and the man then fled from police, going through people's backyards in the South Lincoln Street area.
The sheriff's office said the man was identified as Don E. "Pumkin" Taylor.
Taylor made it to his home and got off his bicycle. He then started to go towards his front door while deputies continued to pursue him, WCSO said. Deputies then ordered him to stop but he kept fleeing from authorities.
The deputies saw him go towards a make-shift table on his front porch. Deputies then pointed a taser at him but they said he still resisted. The deputies then tased Taylor and took him in custody without any further incident.
Deputies also found 2.32 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, WCSO said.
Taylor was then cited for resisting a peace officer, possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
