...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT /1 PM EDT/ SATURDAY
TO 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values 100 to 109 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ Saturday to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Juvenile Suspect Detained in Relation to Shooting in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON, Ill. -- Police have in custody a juvenile who is suspected of being involved in a shooting which took place earlier in the week.

The Mount Vernon Police Department stated a search warrant and a juvenile arrest warrant were served in the 1000-block of S. 20th Street on June 20 at 2:40 p.m. The warrants were served by the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff's Office High Risk Team.

The warrants were in regards to a shooting investigation on June 18, according to police. The juvenile suspect was taken to a juvenile detention facility.

On Wednesday, we reported the arrest of an 18-year-old man in regards to a shooting on June 18. At the time, police stated a juvenile suspect was also sought in the shooting incident.
