CARMI, Ill. (WSIL) -- Drugs and paraphernalia were found in a car after a chase through Carmi, according to a local sheriff's office. This resulted in two people taken into custody.
The White County Sheriff's Office said on October 31, at around 1:20 a.m., one of their deputies saw a vehicle going at a high rate of speed on Stewart Street in Carmi.
The sheriff's office said the driver fled from the deputy, failing to stop at stop signs and even went airborne around the Fackney Street and Seventh Street area before losing control of the vehicle and hitting a telephone pole. The vehicle then came to a stop.
The deputy saw a man in the passenger seat of the vehicle and detained him a short time later.
The sheriff's office said the driver fled on foot and was found a short time later behind some brush nearby.
The sheriff's office also said a meth pipe was found on the passenger. He was then taken to the White County Jail. Narcotics and paraphernalia was also found inside the vehicle, the sheriff's office stated.Â
The driver was taken to the Hamilton County Hospital and authorities said they will request a warrant.
