ULLIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- 11 fire departments battled a large hotel fire overnight along I-57 near Ullin.
A representative with the Village of Ullin stated the America's Best Value Inn caught fire Monday night. Area fire departments responded to douse water on the fire as flames were seen throughout the hotel.
The Ullin representative said the hotel has been closed for roughly a month.
Fire crews remained on scene throughout the night to battle the flames and put out hot spots.
The state fire marshal's office was called in to investigate.
The Ullin Fire Department thanked all the fire departments which provided mutual aid. They include fire crews from Pulaski, Mound City, Tamms, Dongola, Grand Chain, Karnak, Anna, Jonesboro, Horseshoe Lake, Olmsted and Mounds.
