Property in Murphysboro to be Revitalized, Creating Dozens of Jobs

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- The City of Murphysboro announced a new partnership to revitalize a property which will create dozens of jobs along with it.

City officials with Murphysboro announced a partnership with Crucial M.R.O. to revitalize a property, known as the former Curwood property, which will create 25 full-time jobs.

Crucial M.R.O. is a full-service maintenance, repair and overhaul company, which plans to convert the facility into a state-of-the-art component shop. Essential parts in this shop for commercial aircrafts will be serviced and maintained.

This $500,000 project is designed to rehabilitate a once-neglected building and address the longstanding concern for residents which will help turn the property into an economic opportunity.

“This partnership exemplifies the City Council’s dedication to fostering economic growth and revitalizing our community,� said Will Stephens, Mayor of the City of Murphysboro. “We are thrilled to welcome Crucial M.R.O. to Murphysboro and look forward to the positive impact this project will have on our local economy.�

The city said in a release, the partnership agreement extends Tax Increment Financing from the City of Murphysboro to Crucial M.R.O. This is designed to help pay for the roof repairs, installation of new HVAC, upgrading of electrical connections and other eligible costs.

Renovations for this property is planned to start in October of 2024.
