JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Johnston City has a new police chief.
Tuesday night, the city council voted unanimously to hire interim chief, J.D. Barter on a permanent basis.
Barter joined the department as an auxiliary officer in January of 2013.
He took over as interim chief earlier this month after former police chief, William Stark, resigned for personal reasons.
