MARION, IL (WSIL) -- Police are investigating a shooting that wounded two people in Marion.
It happened on the 1200 block of West Cherry Street around 5:10 Tuesday evening.
Marion Police Chief David Fitts says two men stopped their SUV in front of a home and fired shots before driving away.
Two victims were taken to a local hospital for their injuries. Their conditions are unknown.
Eyewitness Derrick Burns described to News 3 what he saw.
"I stepped out to get some air and all I heard was boom, boom, boom, boom," said Burns. "I came out and all I saw was a black SUV, two guys had got back in the SUV and sped off and then I went over to check the victims and the victims were laying on the ground."
Burns said the victims were both men, who appeared to be seriously wounded.
He also encouraged others who may have seen something, to come forward.
"If there's something that you see, say something, don't be afraid of retaliation or anything like that," said Burns. "If you see something say something because every tip goes a long way because if it was your mother or father or brother or sister, you'd want someone to stand up for you."
