Sikeston's Earth Day: Local companies host cleanup with food and gear

SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Several industries in Sikeston are joining forces for an Earth Day event on Saturday, April 26.

Americold, Do It Best, Unilever, Construction Trailer Specialists, and MoDOT will collaborate to clean up roadways around the North Industrial Park. Volunteers will focus on Highway ZZ, Rose Parkway, and the intersection of Highway ZZ and Highway 61.

Volunteers will enjoy coffee and donuts from 8 to 8:30 a.m., followed by a safety briefing and team assignments until 9 a.m. The cleanup will run from 9 a.m. to noon, concluding with a grilled lunch.

Americold is providing water, hot dogs, hamburgers, and chips, while Sikeston DPS officers will handle the grilling. Unilever is donating ice cream, and Do It Best is supplying vests, eye protection, and additional trash bags and trash pickers.
