Residents in Scott County, Missouri, are still cleaning up storm damage after an EF-3 tornado carved a 16-mile path through Stoddard and Scott Counties.
Crews are out removing trees on Sloanville Drive, one of the areas with a significant amount of damage.
News 3 was out there on Monday afternoon talking with residents.
Many said their sole focus was finding salvageable items before more rain came to the area.
The Rural Fire Protection District Chief, Jeremy Perrien, says emergency officials are asking people to stay away from areas with major storm damage.
“The roadways are pretty well opened back up, but I say that gently because there are a lot of crews that are still restoring power, getting areas cleaned up, and families that are trying to sift through some things and trying to find some stuff, Perrien said.
An emergency base has been set up. Officials are urging people needing help or who would like to help to make a stop there first. He says the American Red Cross is at the Old Bethel Baptist Church, and Heartland Harvest Church collects and passes out supplies.
“So anybody that's needing assistance, either one of those churches would be the place to go. And anybody that's wanting to help with cleanup efforts, if they go to one of the churches and reach out to the Red Cross, they can be pointed in the right direction, Perrien said.
Officials say at least two people have died from Friday night's severe storms, and multiple were injured, with dozens of homes damaged.
