Colten Blankenship, 21, of Vienna, IL was pronounced dead on the scene. Alexander McLean, 18, of Eddyville, KY, and Daniel Guasp, 22, of Nortonville, KY, died in a nearby hospital from their injuries.

Deputies with the Graves County Sheriff's Office responded to the area on Saturday night around 7:45 p.m. after receiving calls of a car traveling in the wrong direction on I-69. Upon arrival, they received more calls alerting them to the wreck between mile markers 26 and 27. Officials said Shirley Ballard, 68, of Mayfield, accidentally took the southbound entrance onto the highway off US 45.

According to officials, Ballard's Chevrolet Trax crashed with Blankenship's Toyota Carolla near the Hopewell Road overpass. Blankenship did not survive the crash. His passengers, Guasp and McLean, were transported to nearby hospitals. The report from officials states McLean died under medical care at Jackson Purchase Medical Center, and Guasp died at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Deputies said air EMS took Ballard to Memphis for medical care for her critical condition.
