WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Williamson County Officials continued their mission to crack down on drug possession in the area with a reported cocaine-related arrest on Aug. 21.聽
The county's sheriff's office posted information regarding the arrest on Sunday. According to the release, Eric R. Gottberg was arrested when deputies found the drug in his car.聽
The sheriff hopes the community realizes the department is aware of what is going on behind closed doors.
The department says the deputies stopped Gottberg's car along Herrin Road at 43rd Street around 11:39 p.m. on Aug. 21. Deputies say the car violated the Illinois Vehicle Code. Additionally, the deputies who stopped Gottberg reported his lack of a driver's license.聽
During the stop, officials say a K9 officers sniffed the scene and alerted authorities to the presence of narcotics. Deputies further searched the car and say a white powder was present on driver's seat. This substance reportedly tested positive for cocaine. Authorities say a plastic bag with the drug was also present in the vehicle.聽
The sheriff's office said Gottberg received charges for:
- Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
- Speeding
- No Valid Driver's License
Gottberg was brought to the Williamson County Jail.聽
