TEAMS TO WATCH PKG

CARBONDALE (WSIL) --I've been here less than two months and I've already gotten to witness of ton of our local talent.

Now there are so many teams and conferences in our area, some I haven't even gotten a chance to see yet.

But, from games that I have personally had the opportunity to watch, I wanted to share some teams and players that we should keep an eye on in the new year.

The holiday tournaments gave me an awesome chance to witness more of our local talent.

I'll start with a team that surprised me. I hadn't heard much about Woodlawn, but after only watching them a few minutes I knew this group of guys would be one tough team to beat.

How about Herrin? They've got Brandon Anthony who is arguably one of the best guards that I've seen in the region.

What about Goreville? They look promising. The blackcats are coming off a first place finish at the Sesser-Valier holiday tournament. 4 players put up double figures in the championship game, so they've got some depth.

It didn't take long for Massac County to get on my radar. Jace Mizell and Jullian Russel are just two on that talented roster of players. No one can argue they have a great coach in Joe Hoseman.

The Pinckneyville panthers were a team I heard about almost immediately after I got here. Their ball movement and quick offense will help them make a deep run in the playoffs no doubt.

Rayzhaun Bardo and Jackson Connor combine to give Marion a potent offense.

The Red devils from Murphysboro boast players with great athleticism and competitiveness that you just can't teach.

There is no doubt this region has some fun players and teams to watch.
