ORIENT, Ill. -- Two people were arrested after they were suspected of burglary in Franklin County Friday morning. One of the suspects was also wanted out of Zeigler in connection to a burglary investigation as well.

The Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon said their office were alerted of a burglary alarm from a business in Orient on the morning of January 26, at 4:58 a.m. Once deputies got on scene, they saw the business was broken into, then started working to develop suspects and collected information.

Roughly an hour-and-a-half later, a deputy went to a home in Orient where they found a suspect identified as Hunter D. Karns-Glen, 20 of West Frankfort. He was then taken into custody.

During this time, they suspected another person was in the home as a possible burglary suspect as well.

Then, the sheriff's office said deputies saw a person running from the back of the home and into a thick wooded area. Deputies went after the subject but lost sight of them.

Moments later, a deputy found the person while searching some outbuildings in the area. The person was then found in a garage inside a chest style deep freezer, the sheriff's office said.

At this time, the sheriff's office said there was a confrontation but then the person was taken into custody. This person was identified as Bryan K. Edwards, 43 of Mulkeytown, and was said to be the second suspect in the burglary.

After the sheriff's office got a search warrant for the home where the two suspects were, they found multiple items of value and collected them.

Hunter D. Karns-Glen faces charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft and criminal damage to property over $10,000.

Bryan K. Edwards faces charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft, criminal damage to property over $10,000 and resisting arrest. Edwards also had two warrants for residential burglary out of Franklin County.

Both Karns-Glen and Edwards were taken to the Franklin County Jail.

Assisting in the case was the West Frankfort Police Department and an Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigator.

Both of these subjects recently had encounters with law enforcement.

On October 26, 2023, Hunter Karns-Glen faced a charge of possession of a firearm without FOID card after a traffic stop in West Frankfort.

Zeigler police recently alerted the public they were looking for Bryan Edwards on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

Before that on November 15, 2023, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office alerted the public he was wanted for charges of theft, residential burglary and unlawful possession of a vehicle.
