...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- Pleasant weather (by January standards) continues through the beginning of the week. Chilly mornings with upper 20s, but sunshine and afternoon temperatures in the upper 40s is hard to beat in the early half of January.

Take advantage of the nice weather through Wednesday because wet weather returns later this week.

The big weather story line will be potential for heavy rain later in the week. Showers will return into the forecast by Thursday afternoon with heavier rain possible Friday and Saturday. Meteorologist Nick Hausen is even tracking the potential rain changes to snow or ice before ending on Saturday evening. We've got you covered!
