Two workers electrocuted near Walmart in Jackson, Missouri

JACKSON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Two workers were electrocuted while working on a utility pole near Walmart in Jackson on Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

The incident occurred at the intersection of East Jackson Boulevard and Walton Drive.

Emergency services received a call at 9:45 a.m., and police, fire, and an ambulance responded to the scene.

Jackson Fire Rescue Firefighter Michael Gentry said the two individuals were working on a light pole when the electrocution happened.

Both workers sustained injuries and were transported to the trauma unit at St. Francis Medical Center for treatment. The current condition of the workers has not been disclosed.

A representative with the Missouri Department of Transportation confirmed two of their electricians were both injured and were working on the light pole when the incident took place.
